YouTube

I said it before and I'll say it again: YouTube is the new TV. The world just hasn't woken up to it yet. Every year, Youtube gets more and more popular, and rightfully so. It's the only platform where creators can make a living out of their content creation.

On this YouTube channel, French chef Alex explains his cooking techniques in funny, informative videos. The nice thing about YouTube compared to regular TV series is that people can really take the time to go in-depth into something. A series about making pizza in 8 parts? Another one about ramen? I think Marques Brownlee might be one of the most famous YouTubers out there, and rightly so. The attention to details in his videos is exquisite, and his tech reviews are great. He's become a reference when it comes to smartphone reviews, standing next to some giant review sites as his own one-man-show. Respect.

I'm not sure how it happened but somewhere during this year I got interested in cooking. This channel contains a lot of good tips for beginner chefs. Two brothers from New York explain how to cook on a budget, how to do great dishes with basic ingredients, how to organize your kitchen etc. Great stuff.

Jake Baldino and friends put out videos every day about video games. Some of the titles might feel a bit click-baity, but this channel often surprises me with the depth of the obvious research that goes into some of the videos. Good stuff if you are interested in video games.

Canada-based Chris Nicolls reviews cameras in an in-depth manner. He is assisted by his video producer Jordan Drake. The videos have a calmness to them and they just straight-up talk about what you really care about as a photographer: image quality, camera controls/ergonomics and how the cameras function in practice.

Dave Lee mostly reviews laptops and smartphones. His videos are very informative and offer a good overview of the plusses and minuses of whatever he is reviewing. If you are looking to upgrade your smartphone or laptop it wouldn't hurt to view a few of his videos.

The least active channel in the list still deserves an honorary mention, because when DeV put outs a video, I am definitely going to watch it. His $399 TCL 4K review got me interested, in which DeV looks at the state of 4K TVs with a very down-to-earth look on tech.
